Jobs Not Jail

A big barrier for fathers is incarceration due to non-payment of child support. These dads are often seen as deadbeat when in fact they are dead broke.

Jobs Not Jail is an Alternative to Incarceration Program (AIP) that provides Family Court judges an alternative to jail time for fathers.

Fathers behind in child support may be court-ordered to the fatherhood program for six months instead of going to jail, delivering a real solution that keeps employed fathers working and learn how get on track with child support payments

*If a low-income father is unemployed at the Rule to Show Cause hearing, Lancaster Fatherhood Project staff will request he have 30 days to seek and secure employment and 45 days to make the first support payment. Judges often extend the child support payment if the father is actively enrolled in job training that provides skills to improve his opportunity for employment.
